Steampunked - July Design Team Project

This project features the gorgeous lazer cut chipboard pieces from Gina's Designs.  I really had a lot of fun creating this one.  For more info on the techniques and the lazer cuts I used, please see the video on my YouTube channel.

Layout - Twilight Woods

I created this layout for one of my entries to the August 2012 layout challenge at http://crafthappens.ning.com.  The challenge this month does not use a sketch, but is challenging and inspiring, and of course fun!  Part of the challenge is to make your own design paper with stencils, stamps, inks, and/or sprays.

I created another layout also for this challenge.  This one features my daughter Maggie May.

Note Cards in Ten Minutes

I am determined to clean up my scrappy desk every Saturday or Sunday and my challenge to myself is to create a ten minute note card from only scraps on my desk or thereabouts.  Of course I did use my printer for the image, but I grabbed from the first images in my digi image file to keep my time to no more than ten minutes.  Only time will tell if I can continue my challenge, but we'll see.

Altered Canvas - Breaking Dawn - "Haunted"

Altered canvas I inverted for a shadow box look.  Lots of technique on the frame which I cut with my cricut. It was a plain burgundy cardstock that I painted black, then embossed with clear UTEE, then I embossed a dark green in a marbled pattern that I applied with a stamp and finally some bead gel, then silver rub n buff.  The result was a metal look.  Not much color in this piece, I was going for a haunted look at Dawn.

Mixed Media Vintage Beach Canvas

Done on a 12 x 12 canvas.  I have used distress inks and sprays by Tim Holtz and Dylusions for the background and also texture paste and Japanese lace paper applied with Golden gel gloss medium.  The vintage photo is printed on sticky backed canvas.

Remembering Dewey

A sketch challenge featuring my late kitty "Dewey".  He was abandoned at my boarding facility about 3 years ago.  Eventually I took him into my home because he was so special.  I knew he missed his original family but hardships made it impossible for them to return for him.  I knew they'd loved him so I did my best to give him a loving place for his remaining  years.  He passed in February of 2012 at about 16 years of age.  His passing was difficult for me, as I'd become so close to him in those last years, I suppose from trying so hard to replace his loving family.  This layout was for a sketch challenge at Craft Happens.  The paper I used was a watercolor stack from DCVW.  I liked the resemblance to clouds and the way the blue brings out his gorgeous eyes.  The birds represent him "flying free".

Vintage Fabric Ornament

A vintage fabric ornament I made today.  I printed a tiny photo onto muslin fabric added batting and various laces and bits, tulle etc.  A few tiny ribbon flowers.  I was happy with the result.  Hope you like it.
