Gecko Galz February Customer Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends!   It's February 1st, and that means time for a new challenge a the Gecko Galz blogspot.  This month our theme is 'Vintage Ladies'.  Today I am sharing my entry into the Gecko Galz Customer Challenge.  Come join us for fun and prizes!

Love Potion #9 Icons - Love Ticket

Instructions:

Begin with a black card base.  Print out two background papers from the Parisian Dreams paper pack. Attach one of the backgrounds to the base covering the top two thirds of your card base.  Create a pocket by either cutting or tearing a different background and attaching to the bottom part of your card base attaching by the edges only using score tape or ATG tape.  Be sure to cut or tear this piece at an angle so you have a sizeable area on which to attach your main image later.

Print out the Cute Little Coquettes collage sheet and cut out the image of your choice.

Print out and fussy cut the pink rose frame from the Coquette Icons.  Fussy cut around the flowers and leaves at the top right so that you can tuck and attach your coquette image under the roses.

Using pop dots, attach this frame to the card,  making sure not to attach the upper left portion of the frame so that it doesn't interfere with your tag pocket.

Cut out the pink lady from the Coquette Icons 2 and attach her with pop dots, again making sure not to close up your pocket.

Cut out the fan and attach with pop dots at the bottom right corner.

I then added a piece of music note patterned washi tape to the bottom of the card to coordinate with the music note tag, but this is optional.

Attach the love ticket from the Gecko Galz January Kit Love Potion #9 Icons, or other sentiment of your choice.

Print out the collage sheet Vintage Tags.  I used the one with the music notes as it has a blank white area in the center on which to write a private little note before tucking it into the pocket.

Tuck the tag into the pocket.

Here is my fourth entry to our Facebook Challenge Group.  My intention was to enter all six of this month's challenges, but unfortunately I got sidetracked by the flu for over a week, and didn't feel up to crafting much.  This card was entered into the "Birds of a Feather" challenge.  Your card or other project had to feature a bird or birds.  Today is the last day to enter the January challenges, so if you aren't able to enter in time, please join us for more fun challenges in the month of February!

Altered Frame for Ephemera's Vintage Garden

Hi Friends! Over the next two months I'm excited to be working with one of my favorite printable papers and art journal elements sets from Ephemera's Vintage Garden.  Once you've printed and cut out these elements, the possibilities are endless for so many more projects in addition to an amazing art journal.  Here I have taken a 12 x 12 wooden frame purchased at Michael's and altered it.  After printing the background papers, I tore them into sections to fit the frame.  I used a matte Modge Podge to apply the papers once I was pleased with the pattern.  I fussy cut all the elements from the printable art journal elements sheet, and played around with the different pieces and the placement until I was happy.  Using pop dots for dimension, I added my elements to the frame.  I then papered the inside frame area which is 5 x 7, and added one of the larger images from the elements set to the inside.  This part is removable and I can add any photo I would like inside of the frame if I choose to, or even change out the images.  The frame has an easel back or can be hung on the wall.  Meanwhile, I still have lots more of the elements for more projects coming soon!  As always, one of the best things about using printable digitals is that I can always print more!

Fun with Gecko Galz Papercraft Challenge Group - Entry Number Three

Here is my third entry into the Gecko Galz Papercrafting Challenge Group on Facebook, called "Baby it's Cold Outside".  For this challenge, the words have to appear somewhere on your entry.  I have background paper from the Gecko Galz  Winter Wonderland digital paper pack.  The gorgeous image was a freebie on the Fripperies and Butterflies Blog.  I cut the image into sections and pieced it back together onto white cardstock to create an illusion of looking through the window since I wanted her to appear to be outside.

Fun with Gecko Galz Papercraft Challenge Group - Entry Number Two

Here is my second entry into the Gecko Galz Papercrafting Challenge Group "Color Challenge - Using Cream and Gold".  For this challenge I used a Gecko Galz image from our January Kit, the first of our monthly kits available in the Etsy store individually or by yearly subscription.   From the same kit is the word banner which was part of a digital stamp that I cut apart.   Everything else on the card was bits and pieces that were laying around my desk, and a couple of chipboard shapes by Gina's Designs (a key and a double heart).  Don't forget to also stop by the Gecko Galz Blog to see what the design team has been up to, and to enter into the monthly blog challenge!

Fun with Gecko Galz Papercraft Challenge Group - Entry Number One

Today I'm sharing the first of my monthly entries into the Gecko Galz Papercrafting Challenge Group on Facebook.  Each month there are several fun challenges to enter, all with different themes.  You can enter as many times as you want for the opportunity to win free collage sheets.

First up is my entry into the "Not A Card" challenge.  I altered this little wooden purse I got at Michael's a while back.  It's small,  with the work space (not including the handles) just short of 4 x 4 inches.  I covered the box with the brand new Valentine themed digital papers from My Artistic Adventures, using matte Mod Podge to adhere the paper.  The papers are gorgeous, and there are more matching paper sets in other patterns now available in the store.  The Vintage Valentine image is from the Gecko Galz - Very Vintage Valentine collage sheet.  I added a few laces and embellishments from my stash to complete, and I used my new heart shaped doily die from spellbinders.

A Four Card Set for Ephemera's Vintage Garden

Here is my third project using "A Happy Place".  I had so much fun creating these whimsical cards for Ephemera's Vintage Garden.  The images and backgrounds were designed to create a beautiful art journal that anyone can easily create just by cutting out all the bits and borders and mixed media background papers that look like you spent hours creating. I was drawn to this set the moment I saw it, but I thought it would be fun to take these amazing images out of my journal and onto my desk (in my first project using this kit) and onto my wall (in my second project using this kit) and finally in my third project onto some note cards that I can share with others to brighten someones day.  I created these cards quickly and easily.  I like to print out my papers then cut out the images while relaxing in front of the TV in the evening.  Once the images are cut out, the fun truly begins when you start arranging.  I hope you like them!  For other projects I created with these papers,  please see the labels section at the right sidebar here on my blog under Ephemera's Vintage Garden.

I don't recall ever having this much fun making Christmas cards!  The images and backgrounds from Gecko Galz are a ton of fun to work with.  I used several different Gecko Galz collage sheets and/or Gecko Galz freebies which I will link to at the bottom of the post.  All of these cards are entered into the Gecko Galz Holiday Card Challenge on the Gecko Galz Papercrafting Challenge Group on Facebook.  We have several themed challenges to chose from each month.  Come join us for fun and prizes!
